From Spice to Eternity is about a journey along the road of life - my life. It's not a placid life of just sunshine and roses. It's a life of heartbreak and tears, loss and grief, fun and laughter, sharing life with hosts of different people living on two islands, Jamaica in the warm sunny Caribbean and the vastly contrasting, temperamental colder climes of the United Kingdom. It's the journey of a varied life with a multiplicity of flavours, as different as the many herbs and spices that flavour our favourite recipes.
Does your life have a flavour? What spices your life, what makes the very thing that starts out to shatter your dreams, your hopes become manageable and livable because you added your favourite spice or herb. It's not about living as an island separated from family and friends - it's life lived on the edge, and it's about those precious moments when friends and family join in and share your life creating a story, each with its own special flavour. "The very first ingredient listed is vanilla. The author tells us that vanilla is called "the spice of love." This fact is used to transition the reader into a spiritual thought: "Like the long process of curing vanilla, love affairs - especially those that endure - develop over a long time, the longer the process, the more precious the love that ensues." Then the reader is drawn into an engaging story that leads to a spiritual truth. "- Walter E. Mark, Author of The Sixth World of Men An Epic Fantasy series. From Spice to Eternity will challenge you to find the recipe for the main ingredient to fulfillment and purpose for your life. Be tempted by the over 40 delicious mouth watering recipes that will make your cooking "to die for" and your kitchen the center of attraction for family and friends. This is a keeper. Need quiet reflection? You'll find this and more in From Spice to Eternity. Why you should have this book What makes FROM SPICE TO ETERNITY delightful is a beautiful blend of mouth--watering recipes, warm-hearted stories recounted in an exotic yet sweet island and entertaining antics of family life. Each page offers a chance to savor His goodness, to taste His grace and to drink the refreshing water of His Word.--Janet Perez Eckles, author of #1 bestselling Simply Salsa: Dancing Without Fear at God's Fiesta. "I love to cook, and I thought I knew a lot about herbs and spices. I wasn't expecting to read solid information about each spice along with enticing recipes. The culinary information, however, is only a gateway, albeit a delightful and flavorful gateway, to bigger truths. Each spice introduces a new biblical truth, and the theme that permeates all the stories is the love that overflows a relationship with Christ". - Katherine Harms Author "Ms Wright's passion for both her cooking and her faith are evident throughout the book, but her touch is light and inviting--never oppressive or judgmental. I'm already making a list of people I'm going to give her book to as a unique and remarkable gift. Highly Recommended!" - Sandra Humphrey MacLeod "I didn't know what to expect with the spices tied into her Biblical writings. I found out that I was in for a treat! I used this book for a devotional, reading a few chapters each night and I was blessed with each chapter I read." Pryce Caribbean Life newspaper, Brooklyn NY Oct.27-Nov.2,2010. `From Spice to Eternity' is an all access pass to the writer's life, one that has been through many painful and tragic experiences but through strong faith in God , Yvonne `Pat' Wright shows us that we too can overcome. She has creatively shared her passions, woven her stories and experiences with the teaching of the Bible combining the messages with the sumptuous delights of herbs and spices from all over the world; spices that have brought blessings, healing and strength to the body , mind and most of all, the spirit. My favorite spicy devotionals in From Spice to Eternity: 1. Vanilla: Incomparable Love 2. Cilantro: A Soothing Touch 3. Cumin: Deceived 4. Garlic: Bloom Where you are Planted 5. Mustard: Faith of a Child - Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith - Author I like the way you approached the topics. That's what i call creativity. I love your book. Keep on spreading the good news of love. - V. Sigidi "One of the most moving stories in the book was Yvonne’s recollection of surviving the attack of a swarm of bees due to her insistence on throwing two handful of stones into a mango tree, when she should have been making her way home. Her honesty in this chapter and throughout the entire memoir engages the reader and thrills the imaginative juices.
